Race Information
There's no doubt that the Denver Gorilla Run will be a lot of fun, but by getting all dressed up and raising money for the Mountain Gorilla Conservation Fund, you will also be helping tackle a serious issue. Right now, there are approximately 723 highly endangered mountain gorillas left in the world. This precious handful of gorillas is targeted by poachers, illegal game hunters, threatened by the effects of civil war, human disease and faces losing its beautiful forest habitat as a result of deforestation and human encroachment.
Your participation in the Denver Gorilla Run will help us meet and exceed our fundraising target of $150,000. This money will go directly to fund our multiple projects that protect both the gorillas and help their human neighbors. How do we do this? Please ask your friends, neighbors, family or colleagues to help support you in this very unique event. Sponsorship is not required to participate in this event.

In 1987, only 248 Mountain Gorillas lived in the wild. Because of projects coordinated by the Mountain Gorilla Conservation Fund, there are now over 700 living in the wild. The Mountain Gorilla Conservation Fund is dedicated to ensuring the future of the Mountain Gorillas of Rwanda, Uganda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. By providing a partnership of business, wildlife conservation, and community development, MGCF addresses the single biggest challenge facing preservation of these animals today; how do we help communities in developing areas grow and prosper without destroying precious habitat or the Mountain Gorillas, who call it home.
This year each participant will be representing a real live group of gorillas that live in the wild. Be part of one of the following groups:
- Amahoro Group
- Mubare Group
- Sabinyo Group
- Rushengura Group
